Importance of Resurrection

Son of God;

Resurrection is the one thing that declared Jesus Christ to be the Son of God. Some say God has no Son.

"Paul a servant of Jesus Christ, called in to be an apostle of God, (which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures.)

Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord,which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead."

Romans 1:1-4

We must accept the scriptures literally and not try to reason against what is written because it has eternal consequences. We proved in the previous post that Jesus was 100% God and 100% human. To believe that Jesus is the Son of God is very important.

"Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God."

! John 4:15

"Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

1 John 5:5

The Gospel:

"Moreover,brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which you also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

By which ye are also saved if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you unless ye have believed in vain,

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day , according to the scriptures; and that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:

After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the great part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

After that, he was seen by James; then of the apostles. And last of all, he was seen of me also,as of one born out of due time."

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

This is the gospel which if believed one will be saved and have eternal life and have one's name written in the Book of Life. One will move from darkness to light and from death to life.

Jesus Resurrected physically and not spiritually:

"But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

The other disciples, therefore, said unto him, We have seen the Lord, But he said unto them, Except I shall see his hands and print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side.I will not believe it.

And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said. Peace be unto you.

Then saith he to Thomas, Reach out thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust into my side; and be not faithless, but believing.

And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God."

John 20:24-28

Luke the physician who was one of Jesus' disciples wrote about the certainty of what was written.

"The former treatise have I made. O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and to teach.

Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:"

Acts 1:1-3

'And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them and said unto them, Peace be unto you.

But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit, And he said unto them, Why are you troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts/

Behold my hands and my feet, see; for a spirit hath no flesh and bones, as ye see me have..

And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet..And while they believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

And they gave him a piece of broiled fish and a honeycomb. And he took it and did eat before them. And he said unto them,These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the prophets, and the Psalms, concerning me."

Luke 24:36-44

Having read I urge you by the mercies of God to consider your positioning and what you believe about Jesus Christ, why he came and died, and how you should relate with him.

Time is very short and soon it will be over. Where will you spend eternity? Who is your advocate before the Almighty God? Only if you have not sinned ever since you were born can you put this important decision aside. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We deserve God's judgment, but there is a solution which is accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour.

Amen.
